I’m just cruising through books at the moment, working hard to keep up with my goal for 100 books finished by the end of the year. Along the way I’m pushing through the backlog on my Kindle right now and that’s why Warhorse is the next book on the list for this month. I’ve had it sitting around for a little while now after getting it for a dollar months ago and now seems as good a time as any to give it a read.
Timothy Zahn is one of my favorite authors, so I’m expecting this book to be right up my alley when it comes to style tendencies. Will the story be great? That remains to be seen. Sometimes Zahn gets a little out there with his ideas, but for the most part I’ve been pretty happy with all the books of his I’ve read recently.
Throughout the universe, space horses are among the most coveted of species. They are starfaring creatures with telekinetic abilities, tamed and controlled by the Tampy aliens—who aren’t willing to share their understanding of the creatures. Despite diplomatic government intervention, human poachers are determined to capture and control the giant beings. With a tenuous peace treaty in place between the Tampy and humans, the first jointly helmed space horse will undertake its first mission. But will the two races be able to work together—or will their peace break down into all-out war?
